African Sea, Nature & Wildlife Experience
7 Day Garden Route - Self-drive Safari
Day 1:
Transfer to Cape Town International airport and departure for George. Arrival at George Airport, where you will collect your rental vehicle, and proceed to Plettenberg Bay. Check-in to your accommodation at the Bosavern Guest House in Plettenberg Bay.

After you have freshened up, join this magical ocean safari, with the smell of salt in the air, the cry of sea gulls in your ears and the sights of whales and dolphins -it will quite literally take your breath away! After a short briefing, an exhilarating beach launch will be the start of your adventure. The duration of each tour is approximately 2 hours, life jackets, windbreakers and refreshments are provided.
Evening at leisure. Plettenberg Bay has a variety of superb restaurants to choose from.

Day 2:
After breakfast, depart on your 3-hour Canopy Tour. Enjoy the unequalled beauty of the indigenous forest high up on eight treetop platforms. Gently glide along steel cables 30 meters above the forest floor. Birdlife is abundant (including Knysna Loeries and the elusive Narina Trogan), and your guides will explain the ecology of the lush primeval forest. Safety is paramount, and the system has been built to the highest civil engineering standards. Guides are fully trained professionals. Light lunch to be enjoyed upon completion of your excursion.
After this exhilarating experience, depart for Monkeyland which is a primate sanctuary that accommodates primates rescued from private homes, zoos and laboratories. The goal of Monkeyland is to rehabilitate the monkeys, so that they can be free roaming in the park, surrounded by beautiful indigenous forest. There are quite a lot of species of monkey like Capuchin monkeys, Squirrel monkeys, Lemurs (from Madagascar), Spider monkeys and Dusky leaf monkeys. The Gibbons are the clowns of the forest. Here a one-hour walking safari with the primates can be enjoyed.

Time permitting, visit the Aviary situated next to Monkeyland. Birds of Eden is well worth a visit. The unique two hectare dome (the world’s largest) spans over a gorge of indigenous forest. The sanctuary has its own mysterious ruin, which incorporates a walk-behind waterfall. Another feature is its amphitheatre, which has the ability to seat over 200 visitors. The sanctuary’s dome incorporates the ability to synthesise thunder and create short spells of rain from an irrigation system in the dome structure. Roofed viewpoints within the gorge have been erected for use during these brief rain storms. Depart back to you guest house and freshen up before dinner.

Upon arrival, board a Unimog drawn trailer and drive up to the top of the Reserve. While stopping at scenic lookout points, a guide will share some fascinating tales about Knysna and the surrounding area, while you enjoy the panoramic views. An optional 2,2 km guided nature walk takes you through the forest, onto the cliffs, into the caves and along the scenic coast. Once back in the Food Forest, you can enjoy a spectacular 12 dish buffet lunch in a unique outdoor restaurant situated under the Milkwood Trees.
After lunch browse through the 'Blue Duiker' Curio Shop, where a variety of curios can be purchased including clothing and the famous carved 'Feathers of Knysna' collection.

End a memorable evening with tales around the fire, whilst sipping delectable African-blend coffee and liqueurs.
